S1 E11: Mindfulness
Mindfulness is:
A form of meditation that involves being very aware of the present moment completely
We are not thinking at all – not about the past or the future
We focus on the now
We become aware at a very high level of what is coming in through our senses
Mindfulness originates in Eastern philosophy and Buddhism
A Mindfulness activity is anything that helps you keep your focus in the NOW – you are not worrying or stressing or thinking about past or future issues.
Being in the Now is critical to spiritual growth. A quote that is attributed to the teachings of Buddha says:
“The secret of health for both mind and body is not to mourn for the past, not to worry about the future or not to anticipate troubles, but to live in the present moment wisely and earnestly.”
The podcast takes listeners through several forms of Mindfulness that they can practice later on their own.
